What is an AI Skill?

An AI Skill is reusable, source-backed workflow guidance. It helps an agent or team plan, build, review, research, design, or automate a repeatable piece of work. A Skill is not an AI product or SaaS subscription: it is the set of instructions and practices used to do the work well.

How Skill matching works

1. DescribeState the outcome, workflow, or artifact you need.
2. MatchToolMatch searches the dedicated Skill corpus with semantic and keyword retrieval.
3. VerifyOnly direct, evidence-supported matches are shown with a reason and source link.

Skill matching is separate from Plugin search and does not use the Plugin PageIndex.

Explore common workflows

Use a concrete outcome rather than a product name. These examples start a focused Skill question.

What you get

  • Skill name and category.
  • A plain-language description of its scope.
  • Why the Skill fits your stated workflow.
  • Evidence and a source link for review.

Skills vs. Plugins

  • Skills: reusable instructions for completing work.
  • Plugins: products or services to use for a task.
  • Need software instead? Find Plugins for the job.

When Skill search is not the right answer

Use this page when you need a repeatable way to do work. If you need a product to host a site, analyze traffic, create a video, or connect a service, start with Plugin search instead. If no direct Skill is returned, treat that as a signal that the request needs a clearer outcome or that the corpus does not yet contain a verified match. The page does not invent a recommendation to fill the result list.

Make a result easier to evaluate

Read the description first, then inspect the reason and evidence against your actual workflow. Check whether the guidance fits your tools, team, and risk level before adopting it. A strong match can still require adaptation: source material, permissions, review rules, and the final deliverable are different for every project.

Source and provenance

Each result retains its source or artifact reference so you can inspect it before adopting the workflow. A source link can be a mirror; it is not presented as an original repository unless origin verification is available.

Skills are stored separately from AI and SaaS tools. This search does not use the Plugin PageIndex.
